Hridayam Movie Review By Gautham Ravichandran: Yours Lovingly Vineeth Sreenivasan!!
Expectations rocket when you know that Vineeth Sreenivasan is at the helm. Hridayam, as the name suggests, is heartfelt! It traces the life of Arun Neelakandan( Pranav Mohanlal) from his college days to becoming a family man.
Everyone expected a more mature performance from Pranav, compared to his previous outings. Pranav Mohanlal lives up to the expectations and Vineeth has squeezed out the potential very well. Contrary to the ‘good man’ hero we usually see in Vineeth films, here we get a flawed- confused-problematic youth who matures in the due course, into a family man. And Pranav is convincing as both. Kalyani Priyadarshan and Darshana Rajendran are the leading ladies. The former shares more organic chemistry with Pranav while the latter gets more screen time. Aswath Lal, Shiva Hariharan, Arun Kurian, Aju Varghese, Johny Antony, Vijayaraghavan, Abhishek Joseph George, etc play supporting roles. In fact, it is the naturalistic performances that boost the film. Johny Antony and Aju Varghese provide you with ample to laugh at.
Hesham Abdul Wahab’s music does the magic here. Each and every track just stick with the situation and flows. Darshana was pure bliss! Unlike other Vineeth films, you don’t get to see sparkling frames throughout. Viswajith Odukkathil’s frames are satisfactory. Ranjan Abraham has done away with the standard modes. The film is episodic and so are the cuts. Though it never ceases from engaging you, the length is a bit too tad and we wish it had been tighter.
Vineeth Sreenivasan makes films straight from the heart. His intentions are reciprocated in the whistles, hoots, and shouts you hear in the cinema hall! But the range isn’t as high here. Hridayam doesn’t become a Thattathin Marayathu or a Jacobinte Swargaraajyam, in making you root for the characters. Nevertheless, Hridayam deserves an immersive watch for sure.
Overall, Hridayam is Vineeth Sreenivasan with all the heart. Hesham’s soundtrack and a surprisingly impressive Pranav Mohanlal anchor Vineeth’s vision!

#Hridayam : impressive first half despite some filmy elements. Much matured work from Vineet so far. Personally the best first half from him. By the way Mohanlal’s son named Pranav Mohanlal debuted today and he is promising (IYKWM).
